Truck camper suspension upgrade planning

Flatbed camper truck suspension tinkering and changes are not risk free, and I like to say that often “modifications lead to modifications.” Followup mods might be desirable upgrades, or unwelcome consequences.

Application specifics matter. Assuming that standard tweaks which work well on the typical unloaded/lightly-loaded truck are also good for a much heavier outfit, are often naïve.

AT Overland aluminum fuel can carriers

AT Overland (AKA Adventure Trailers) fuel can carriers have been on all of my 4WDs and one trailer over the past decade. Originally they were steel, but for several years they’ve been aluminum, and the latest version is assembled with rivets.

After the first big trip in my 2017 Ram/Cummins with Hallmark Nevada flatbed camper, I discovered the rivets had damaged the green plastic Scepter water can. I found a solution and still love this AT Overland product.

Hallmark flatbed camper interior part 1 and 2

Video tour overviews of the first Hallmark flatbed camper, this is the 8.5-foot Nevada model. The development of this flatbed camper was a collaboration between Hallmark and myself, part of a larger editorial vehicle project, so I was able to help design the layout and features, and choose the amenities. Priorities included additional water, propane, and a large refrigerator with a separate freezer for extended, unsupported travels in remote country.

Just a bit more…slipping the clutch at idle, no drama, more control than an automatic transmission if skilled and careful.
Close, now to decide exactly where it’s going to sit.
