Plumas National Forest Fire Lookout

Cliff area ahead! They aren’t kidding!

If one was to rip-up this road at night you could easily fly right off the mountain. Maybe during daylight also?

Had hoped to take a twisty mountain ride on two of my favorite Sierra Nevada highways. However, fire mop-up operations were still underway and the roads were closed. Needed to punt, so did a little looking around in another part of the Plumas National Forest that was open, and stumbled upon this fire lookout.

CruzTOOLS RTB1 and SKDMX first look.

Two nifty compact tool kits just received to carry, use, and evaluate. The RTB1, $130, is specifically for older generation BMWs like my 1150 GS, but there are similar kits for other brands and models.

The SKDMX, $45, is ultra-compact, intended for off-road dirt bikes, ATVs/UTVs, and covers the most common metric fasteners. The tire gauge is specifically for lower pressure tires, topping-out at 20 psi.

Hagerman Pass Road, Colorado

Heading down the east side of Hagerman Pass, near Leadville, Colorado, after crossing the continental divide.

I’m in my 2017 Ram/Cummins with Hallmark Nevada flatbed camper, following my buddy Brad, pulling his Kimberley Karavan trailer with his second generation Toyota Sequoia, and Tony in his 6.4L F-250 with a Four Wheel Campers Hawk on the back.
